The official opening ceremony of the commemorative plaque to the Lithuanian patriarch dr. Jonas Basanavičius was held on 12 February in Varna. The memorial plate was placed on the house, located on “Krastyo Mirski” Str. 3, where the famous Lithuanian politician lived and worked, a member of The Varna City Council and Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Dr. Jonas Basanavicius.
This project was realized on the initiative of the Lithuanian Ambassador to Romania and the Republic of Bulgaria and dedicated to mark the centenary of the restoration of Lithuania’s statehood.
The commemorative plaque was opened by the Lithuanian Ambassador Arvydas Pocius and the Mayor of the Varna Municipality Ivan Portnih. The event was followed by small reception, organized by the Honorary consul of the Republic of Lithuania Dr.Racho Ribarov.
