After a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on June 25 Lithuanians living in Bulgaria had the opportunity to get together and celebrate the most beautiful summer holiday – Jonines (St. John’s day). The event was organized by the Lithuanian community in Bulgaria together with the Lithuanian Embassy in Romania and the Honorary General Consul of Lithuania Dr. Ribarov.
Traditionally, the celebration was held in the Lovech village Slavyani. The event was attended by 50 participants , including Lithuanians living in Bulgaria, members of their families and other guests.
This year at the initiative of the Lithuanian community, the choir for folk songs “Slavyanka” from the village of Slavyani and other guests were invited to the celebration. The choir „Slavyanka“ performed Bulgarian folk songs.
During the event all guests played various games, tasted traditional Bulgarian and Lithuanian dishes and participated in the quizzes about Lithuania and Bulgaria. The winners of the quizzes and the producers of the most delicious dishes were awarded with gifts.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Romania and Bulgaria Violeta Motulaite personally presented the accreditation letter to Dr. Ribarov, confirming his promotion to Honorary General Consul.
