On June 21, the village of Slavyani in the Lovech region festively celebrated the oldest and most beautiful Lithuanian holiday – Joninės (Midsummer). The village, home to more than 20 Lithuanian families, has already become a traditional place for marking this special occasion.
About 30 Lithuanians living in Bulgaria, along with their family members, attended the event. The guest of honor at the event was the Minister Plenipotentiary of the Lithuanian Embassy in Romania Erikas Petrikas together with his wife Ilona.
The event was organized by the Lithuanian community in Bulgaria together with the Honorary Consul General of Lithuania, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Racho Ribarov.
During the event, Lithuanian music was heard, various games were held and a Midsummer’s Day quiz was organized. The winners of the quiz and games were awarded with various gifts.
