On March 14, Lithuanians living in Bulgaria gathered to commemorate the Day of the Restoration of Lithuania’s Independence. The event took place at SHTRAK Hall and was organized by the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Racho Ribarov.
A highlight of the program was the screening of the documentary film “The Jump” by director Giedrė Žickytė. The film inspired attendees to reflect on the price of freedom and to discuss the importance of personal choice, courage, and human dignity.
Following the screening, participants continued their discussion in an informal atmosphere over coffee and tea, reflecting on the story told in the film as well as the significance of Lithuania’s restored independence.
Lithuanians and their families attended the celebration in Sofia not only from the capital but also from other cities across the country, including Velingrad, Blagoevgrad, and Karnobat.
